Merry Christmas Westborough, Democrat Tyranny Will Die in '10

by Len Mead  December 18, 2009

EXTRA BONUSES BELOW!

A liberal teacher takes the bait and trashes me.   Plus a few letters defending me and an op-ed complaining my article is self-righteous from a "sore loser."

It's a Merry Christmas, Westborough. That's because Democrat lies and frauds perpetrated on America have come into full view for all to see this year in spite of the efforts of the Associated Press and the main street media to cover it up!  This includes the tyranny of rapacious power grabbing by Democrats now in public office, mostly fueled by forced union dues funneled to the Democrat party.  There, it is used to crush the capitalism that has made us the greatest, freest nation on earth.

Of course it's hard to accept that the once great Democrat party has changed from a caring, "liberal light" group who still believed in a strong defense to the party of left-wing radicals.  They obviously hate our country as it is and want desperately to change it to a new utopia -- naturally run and managed by government with Democrats in charge

As people celebrate the birth of Christ we all thankfully come into this holiday season with liberal Democrat policies exposed as cruel, miserable failures.  This year the Democrat in the White House even changed the national Christmas tree to a "holiday tree." Artists who have designed national cards and messages sent from the Executive Mansion for years have been forbidden from mentioning Christmas.

Even union police, firemen and teachers will privately admit they are disgusted at being forced to pay union dues which are then used to squeeze and destroy the private sector.   Common sense says, "Results count, not intentions."  Now the results of "well intended" Democrat policies are being seen for what they are -- the superhighway to hell and serfdom.

When the French threw off royalty rule in the Revolution of 1793, Louis the 16th was guillotined. According to author Ron Chernow, the ruler's death was drenched in gore. Schoolboys cheered, threw their hats aloft and licked the kings blood.  The king's decapitated head was wedged between his lifeless legs, stowed in a basket and his remains buried in an unvarnished box.

Much as some might want our current crop of Democrat thugs to befall the same fate as Louis the 16th, we can bring back our country to its founding as the land of freedom and opportunity not with the guillotine but with the voting booth.  We can get off our rear ends to support and vote for candidates who will stand up for protecting our freedom and our opportunity to succeed with less government intrusion and lower taxes.

Yes, while most such candidates are Republican, there are also a small handful of old-line Democrats who show the courage to fight back against the party of Obama and Rahm Emanuel defined by the Chicago-based politics of Marxist radicals and the personal destruction of one's "enemies."

Common sense now tells us that the (unread) "stimulus" debt spending bill forced down our throats has produced no jobs except government jobs that should have been eliminated and funds to non-existent zip codes and congressional districts.  Of about $900,000 slated to come to Westborough, $466,000 was for replacement of cuts the governor made to our school funds -- but the governor just kept the money on Beacon Hill -- only $107,000 was received, "creating or saving zero jobs."

Yes, Dear Reader, we are seeing that "the emperor has no clothes,"  We are seeing that the "Government Gone Wild" Democrat program of "spending our way to prosperity" is a cruel hoax just masking their real desire to expand government control and power.

Another recent Democrat hoax deliciously exposed is bogus "man made" global warming, ginned up by Democrats to implement "cap and trade," the wholesale take-over of energy that our democracy needs and is entitled to.  "Man made" climate change turns out to be cooked up by elite political "junk scientists" anxious to continue to receive unending millions more of our tax dollars.

Christmas in 2010 will hopefully include the blessings of a new crop of true public servants -- Republican conservatives who actually want to serve the public instead of themselves.

As you  judge candidates to vote for in 2010, you might remember to compare them with our last great Republican leader, Ronald Reagan, who brought our country back from weakness and despair.  His tax cuts and build-up of our military strength produced an explosion of growth and the end of the cold war with Russia. Telling who's a good candidate in 2010 is simple. Just vote for the one who stands for tax cuts and public spending reductions.

Friends, as you spend what's left of your money for gifts this season, take a look on your coins and bills.  You'll see the phrase, "In God We Trust."  With faith, freedom and the opportunity to support Republican conservatives, Christmas in 2010 is going to be even better than this year.  That will come with less Democrat tyranny, lower taxes, less government intrusion, more jobs and finally  -- more prosperity.

Friends, the letter TO THE EDITOR below is EXACTLY what I was hoping the paper would receive.  It is from a Westborough union teacher who folows exactly the pattern liberals use when they have no facts, no logical rguements -- only "feelings" and they just want to shut down and insult conservatives.  I was hoping for more letters so liberals could expose themseves more -- but my editor tells me only a few were "printable" and a few phone calls received only had verbal screeds.  ENJOY!

Swets: Columnist goes too far

Letter to the Editor:  WESTBOROUGH NEWS  1-8-10

We continue to be amazed by the ongoing presence of Len Mead as a “columnist” in the Westborough News.

This rather official forum, propped up in a very visible location for all to see, seems to impart some legitimate status to Mr. Mead. In his periodic rants on ideas and the people he seeks to vilify (principally Democrats and teachers), he purports to be saving us all from some evil opposition empire – one which will flush us all down the toilet or land us on the “superhighway to serfdom.”

His most recent “column” referred to “the tyranny of rapacious power grabbing by Democrats and “a new crop of true public servants”who, no surprise, happen to be mostly “Republican conservatives.” We are all for opposition views, and we believe in a strong two party system, but we would really prefer that regular contributors to the paper treat us and our fellow citizens as rational, somewhat intelligent people. Mr. Mead’s diatribes, invectives, truth-stretching and outright whining are just more than we deserve to have inflicted upon us. The last time we saw Mr. Mead in a public forum, the assembled residents asked him to stop his one-sided rant so that we could get on with the business at hand.

Mr. Mead appears to choke on the issue of our dramatically changing climate. As he so seemingly astutely points out, “Manmade climate change turns out to be cooked up by elite political junk scientists” anxious to spend more time on the dole. Even if he believes this, does his language need to be so pointed, extreme and insulting to the reader? We hope he doesn’t own waterfront property anywhere.

Mr. Mead may make any number of reasonable points somewhere in his writing that thoughtful people could chew on. It is a disservice to this community and your newspaper and it’s readers, that any constructive arguments are masked by such inflammatory writing.

Mr. Mead doesn’t seem to have any real credentials for his position (at least that we are aware of) other than being a resident of this town. If he is to remain a “columnist,” perhaps you could limit him to one shot per year of his nasty barking at us. Better yet, let him write an occasional letter to the editor.

An op-ed "respomse"calling my article from a "sore loser" and self-righeous . . . .

 Merry Christmas, indeed

  By Jon McGrath/COLUMNIST  Westborough News

  Wed Dec 23, 2009, 01:26 PM EST

It’s a Merry Christmas, Westborough.

That’s because we live in a town with great schools to help us teach our kids, a fire department filled with guys whose job it is to run into burning buildings to help us and trained to save our lives if we need them to, a police department that helps keep our town safe, and a DPW that stays up all night and out all day so we can make it out of our driveways when it snows to go shopping or to school or work.

Yup, we also live in a town, state, and country where the taxes a lot of us pay are way too high. A few years ago, we considered moving to another state where the taxes and cost of living were lower. We didn’t for two reasons: We have a lot of family nearby, and Westborough, though not perfect, is home.

We live in a country where grumpy old men (and women) can bluster on TV, radio, and in print that Democrats hate our country. Politically, I don’t really like anybody, and I can go either red or blue, depending on the issue. But I would rather live somewhere where sore losers get to blow of some steam when things don’t go their way is allowed. Plus, it’s always fun to watch someone who’s self-righteous.

Merry Christmas, Westborough.

We live in a town where there’s something for every kid. If your kids like baseball, soccer, basketball, football, lacrosse, ice skating or karate, Westborough has a program for them. If they don’t, they can try tennis, ice skating, horse riding, field hockey, flag football, softball, or Unified Sports.

I know a lot of the people who help run youth baseball, soccer, lacrosse, and basketball in town, and the vast majority of them do it because they want to do what’s best for the kids, not because they’re living out their failed MLB, NFL, or English Premier League dreams through their kids (sure, there are a few nuts, but nowhere is perfect).

Maybe your kid doesn’t like sports. Westborough’s Recreation department offers pottery, playground, crafts, beading, arts, beading, robotics, and Tai Chi programs (honestly, I have no idea whether or not Tai Chi is a sport; I just saw it on the list and stuck it in here).

Merry Christmas, Westborough.

If you like getting out in the great outdoors to enjoy the fruits of the Democrat hoax known as global warming, we’ve got hiking trails all over the place. I’ve been roaming around the Bowman Street Conservation Area since I was a kid, and I now take my own kids across the same bridges and paths and throw rocks from the same shore into the water that I did when I was growing up.

If you need a bite to eat, we’ve got Italian, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese restaurants. We’ve got great, locally owned and operated pizza places. We’ve got about 15 Dunkin’ Donuts.

If I wanted to go to the movies when I was a kid, all we had was the Ruth Gordon Flick. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Flick, and it had its charms, but only two movies played at a time, so the selection was limited. Now, you don’t have to go to Framingham or Worcester to see most movies – you just go down  Milk Street.

Sure, some of our teachers probably make too much money for the number of weeks they work relative to a lot of other jobs. You bet I think our taxes are too high – I have a million things I’d like to do with my house, but I can’t afford any of them. With all the taxes I pay at every level, I can’t think of one service (outside of education and maintaining the streets) that any government has provided me, so I’m not getting a lot of bang for my buck. For those who can’t handle it, go ahead and move.

Merry Christmas, Westborough.

No matter what your religious affiliation is, odds are you can find a place in town (or nearby) to worship. Wherever your politics lie, you can get involved with a group that thinks the same way.

We live in a state that has celebrated six championships this decade and is home to some of the best public and private schools anywhere. Westborough is a growing town where people still try to help each other.

Things really aren’t that bad.

I’m just hoping global warming can do something about the winter. That, and lower taxes, and I’m all set. OK, and the Bruins winning the Stanley Cup. And maybe a riding lawnmower (I’m not getting any younger). And I’d really like it if they moved the recycle bins at the dump so people could first dump their trash then go to the recycle bins; it would be much less chaotic. And I wish the Central House would make more American Chop Suey during the softball season so there would still be some left after my games.

Hey, it’s Christmas – no harm in asking.
